3-Day Gorilla Trekking Uganda

Met at your address in Entebbe or Kampala for a briefing with our staff. This is a long day drive of approximately 8 hours with a lunch stopover en route. Though long, the drive takes you through tropical rainforests, savannah fields, and the hills of Kigezi — famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. Upon arrival in Bwindi, check in at Bweza Lodge and proceed to the Batwa community for a cultural adventure about these forest pygmies. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

After an early breakfast, attend a briefing with experienced local guides and trackers who will explain gorilla trekking etiquette. Begin your hike into the forest from the last known location of a gorilla family. Trekking can take between 1 to 6 hours, depending on the family's location and terrain, which may reach altitudes over 7,500 feet. Though physically demanding, the hike is rewarding with stunning forest scenery. Carry plenty of water, a camera, and wear waterproof clothing with sturdy hiking boots. After the trek, transfer to Itambira Island Resort on Lake Bunyonyi for a relaxing canoeing experience.

As early as 6am, start the long drive back to Entebbe/Kampala, carrying memories of the great rare mountain apes. Have lunch en route and a stopover at the equator line for experimentation. You'll arrive late in the evening to be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport or your preferred hotel.
